To support General Atomics across a demanding global event schedule, we developed 1/3 scale models of their High Energy Laser (HEL) and Beam Director. Trade show environments require a delicate balance: the models must be lightweight enough for frequent shipping, but durable enough to withstand the constant transportation and handling.

We engineered the HEL model using advanced Nylon 12 (PA) for its superior strength-to-weight ratio. The model is made up of 70 individual components, allowing for a modular design that allows General Atomics to swap or modify specific sections as their technology evolves.

To ensure the model’s resilience, we chose scratch-resistant smoked acrylic for the delicate optical lenses and finished both units with a UV-protective clear coat. These models provide a professional, durable, and low-maintenance solution for General Atomics to showcasing a complex defense technology quickly and impactfully.
