C-3PO joins ANA Star Wars family

Reading Time: 3 minutes

On the first day of Star Wars Celebration Europe in London, All Nippon Airways (ANA) unveiled their latest special livery ANA Jet.

Attendees gathered around the ANA booth for the reveal. C-3PO along with a R2-D2 and BB-8 unit joined the stage with 1/20 scale PacMin exhibit models specially designed in their likeness. Clever fans may have speculated what the new third Star Wars inspired livery would be.

The new C-3PO themed Boeing 777-200 joins three other Star Wars themed aircraft to complete the airline’s droid fleet. Two other aircraft in ANA’s fleet feature abstract paint schemes inspired by popular droids R2-D2 (appears on a 787-9 Dreamliner) and BB-8 (appears on a 777-300ER). A third themed Boeing 767-300 aircraft features images of R2-D2 and C-3PO. The C-3PO ANA Jet is expected to take flight in March 2017.

Anthony Daniels, who portrays C-3PO in the Star Wars films, also made an appearance at Star Wars Celebration Europe and visited the ANA booth to leave his signature on the 1/20 scale model.
