On May 23, VietJet finalized an order with Boeing for 100 737 MAX 200 aircraft. The deal marked the largest single commercial aircraft order in Vietnam aviation. US President Barack Obama and Vietnam President Trần Đại Quang were at the ceremony to witness the monumental signing. A 1/100 scale PacMin desktop model in the airline’s livery was also at the event.

The signing marks the first time VietJet has ordered Boeing aircraft. Currently, the airline operates an all Airbus fleet, including the A320 and A321. The 737 MAX 200s are expected to be delivered to the low cost airline from 2019 through 2023.
