ANAHEIM, California, April 16, 2015 – PacMin, Inc., a leading global supplier of aircraft models, joins All Nippon Airways (ANA) this weekend at Star Wars Celebration for the unveiling of a PacMin-manufactured 1/20 scale Boeing 787-9 exhibit model in a unique R2-D2 paint scheme, designed by global design firm, Teague.
The model plane will be on display at ANA booth 1713 for all four days of Star Wars Celebration. Attendees will be among the first to see the design before it appears on an actual 787 aircraft.
“This model was a close, continuous collaboration between PacMin and All Nippon Airways,” said William To, PacMin Director of Operations, “we’ve had a long standing relationship that spans over two decades and it shows through our continued projects with one another.”
A team of ten PacMin engineers and artists created the scale model in three weeks. PacMin used official R2-D2 color samples and artwork to recreate the design to wrap around a 1/20 scale model. The model also serves as a tool for review and finalization of the R2-D2 design before its application on to a full-size Boeing 787 aircraft.
