On March 25, 2013, Hawaiian Airlines announced the A321neo would join its growing Airbus fleet. Their announcement finalized a Memorandum of Understanding signed earlier this year.

To commemorate the deal, Airbus presented Hawaiian Airlines with a small fleet of A321neo models produced by PacMin.
