A “golden treasure” takes flight

Reading Time: < 1 minute

On November 24, 2012, Air New Zealand unveiled a stunning livery inspired by the film “The Hobbit: An Unexpected Journey.” That evening, the themed aircraft took its inaugural flight. It later flew over Wellington, New Zealand to make a brief appearance at the film’s premiere on November 28.

To commemorate their themed aircraft, Air New Zealand challenged PacMin to create a fleet of exhibit and desktop models. It was vital the models arrived in time for the debut. The livery must also remain secret until the announcement.

The PacMin team worked with Air New Zealand to ensure their models arrived discreetly and without delay.

* The riddle, “A box without hinges, key or lid, yet golden treasure inside is hid,” adorns the desktop models’ packaging. Some of these “treasures” have auctioned off for over $400.
