PacMin marks 65 years of supplying aircraft models to the industry
During eight decades, PacMin has played an important role in the development and marketing of major programs in the aviation and aerospace industries.
Fullerton, CA—World-renowned PacMin, a manufacturer of precision-scale model aircraft, is celebrating its 65-year anniversary this year with more than 3,000 customers around the globe and exporting nearly 40% of its production.
Established in 1946, the family-run company produces approximately 20,000 aircraft models annually for commercial, corporate and military customers.
PacMin has manufactured aircraft models in nearly every airline livery and is a preferred supplier/partner to Airbus, Boeing, Bombardier, Cessna, Gulfstream, Embraer and Honda Aircraft.
In addition, PacMin provides 3D marketing support and solutions for new commercial programs, including Boeing 787 and 747-8, Airbus A350XWB and A320NEO, Mitsubishi MRJ, Bombardier CRJ 1000 and C Series, as well as engine programs like PW PurePower and CFM Leap-X.
PacMin is similarly involved in new business aircraft projects such as the Bombardier Global 7000 and 8000, Lear 85, Cessna Citation 4, Phenom 300, Legacy 650, Gulfstream G250 and G650 and HondaJet.
In the area of Military aviation, PacMin is producing models of the Boeing Chinook, A-160, AH-6I, AH-6D Apache, P-8, EMARS, Phantom Ray L-3: Liberty, C-27 and Northrop Grumman’s X-47B, Global Hawk and Fire Scout.
“Our goal over the past sixty-five years is to be the source for visually dynamic marketing solutions that build key business relationships. As strategic partners with our customers, PacMin continues to invest in our team members so that we can deliver the latest technologies and processes while supporting local environmental initiatives,” says CEO Fred Ouweleen, Jr. “This investment includes tooling that allows us to produce over 560 types and scales of aircraft, and to replicate the liveries for over 10,000 different aircraft.”
With core competencies in prototyping, tooling, molding, preparation, painting, customizing, graphics, printing and customer service, PacMin is based at a state-of-the art facility, southeast of Los Angeles in Orange County, California, integrating lean manufacturing protocols to increase efficiency, optimize workflow and decrease waste.
Ouweleen notes the aircraft models range from desktop size to several feet in length and are used by customers to unveil new aircraft designs, entice prospective buyers and to celebrate billion-dollar business deals. “Sometimes the models are as important to a deal, if not more so, than the real aircraft.”
