PacMin Honors Gil Speed, 2010 ISTAT Man of the Year and Partner Ann Speed.
When we learned that Gil Speed, founder of SpeedNews, had been chosen to receive the prestigious ISTAT award, we decided to create a special model commemorating this special event and his illustrious career.
With help from Ann Speed, Gil’s wife, and Joanna Speed, one of his two daughters, our graphic artists developed a special SpeedAir livery incorporating symbols from Gil’s past, including PanAm, Bristol Aircraft and more.
Gil and Ann were invited to tour Pacific Miniatures’ Fullerton, California facility on June 30. Soon after their arrival, PacMin CEO Fred Ouweleen made a surprise presentation of a 1/100 scale 747-200 SpeedAir model to Gil and Ann.
