in Toulouse, September 20-22, 2010, at  Hôtel Palladia in Toulouse, France and

The 15th Annual Regional & Business Aviation Industry Suppliers Conference
October 27-29, 2010, InterContintental Montelucia, Paradise Valley (Scottsdale)

The SpeedNews Aviation Supplier Conferences are the brainchild of Gil Speed (http://www.gilspeedandassociates.com), founder of SpeedNews.   25 years ago, Gil  saw the need to connect airframe manufacturers with suppliers and vendors in the aviation industry in a forum where they could meet, ask questions, and get answers.  Coming from the aviation supplier base himself before founding SpeedNews,  he knew the importance of understanding what the airframe, engine and other tier one suppliers were forecasting for their own businesses, so he could forecast and plan his own operations.

At the time, the aviation supplier base could read articles in the industry journals or even subscribe to SpeedNews, which provided “just the facts” bullet points on aviation industry developments, large and small, to the supplier base.   But what was missing at the time was a forum where suppliers could meet the company representatives face
-to-face, hear concise 20 to 30 minute presentations, and then ask questions.    Also missing was an opportunity to continue conversations and network outside the rigorous conference schedule.   To achieve this, Gil and his wife Ann, included breakfasts, cocktail hours, and dinners to the agenda.

I started attending SpeedNews conferences just last year and can attest to their value for our business.  Gil and Ann sold SpeedNews and the SpeedNews Conferences to Penton Media five years ago but they still attend the conferences, which are now ably directed by their daughter Joanna Speed.    A personal, congenial, and family atmosphere is present and very much alive AND the conferences are organized and run professionally and rigorously.   The speakers are carefully chosen experts in their fields who are also skilled at making presentations and providing thoughtful and studied answers to questions and inquiries.

While the content is excellent, I enjoy having the time to focus working “on my business” versus “in my business”.  The three days allow me move from the tactical to the strategic, and to focus on the big picture.   That alone is worth the price of admission.

If you haven’t been to a SpeedNews conference, I strongly suggest you attend.    For more information, follow this link: http://www.speednews.com/Conferences.aspx
